Fujitec AC-GL
Overview
AC-GL is a high speed passenger elevator model of Japanese elevator manufacturer Fujitec that was produced between the 1990s and 2000s. It is a AC gearless high speed elevator model with VVVF drives designed for high rise buildings (mainly office and hotels) and was considered as the company's flagship model for the high rise segment. It is a custom made model, meaning that the elevator could be configured and designed according to client's requests and requirements.
It was discontinued sometime in the 2010s. The successor of this model is Fujitec ELSIA, which is Fujitec's current high speed model.
In Indonesia, this model was mainly installed in high rise office buildings in Jakarta that were built in the 1990s. At least two hotels have been known to use this model, they are Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta and Surabaya. The iconic Wisma 46 skyscraper in Jakarta contains several Fujitec AC-GL elevators from 1996[1] and are the tallest Fujitec installations in Indonesia. In 2024, they were modernized into ELSIA model with EZShuttle destination dispatch (the first in Indonesia)[2].
Characteristics
- Like most Fujitec models at that time, AC-GL elevators level quick.
- Some elevators have call prediction feature; when a landing call button is pressed the hall lantern of the nearest elevator to serve that call will light up and a chime will sound.
Known specs
Not much is known about the specification of AC-GL. The speed range is between 2 and 7 meters per second (or 120-420 meters per minute) and the capacity range is between 1000 and 1600 kilograms. Doors were available in center opening and telescopic sliding type (either side or center opening).
Fixtures
Buttons
There were square or round buttons that came in different styles. The square buttons were clear plastic that light up entirely, or stainless steel with black marking and illuminating halo. The same goes with the round buttons.
Floor indicators and hall lanterns
Older installations usually use 16-segments displays and the numbers blink when changing. Newer installations use LED dot matrix display with scrolling arrows. Hall lanterns were mostly custom designed in various shapes, otherwise they're clear triangles that light up green and red.
