Hitachi Custom Passenger Elevator (1980s)
This article is about custom type passenger elevator model of Japanese elevator manufacturer Hitachi that was produced between the late 1970s and 1980s. There is no known name for this model.
Overview
It is a custom type, medium speed AC geared passenger elevator model. Hitachi had produced this model from the late 1970s until around the 1980s. It was mainly designed for low to mid rise commercial and residential buildings. The controller is either mechanical relay or microcomputer.
The specification is not known, but it is believed that this model had larger capacity range and higher speed options. Most elevators run at 1 meter per second speed.
Characteristics
- The car walls are mostly stainless steel. There were several different ceiling designs but the most commonly used design is the one with multiple round lights. Ventilation fan is mostly an electric blower type, and has a very distinctive noise. Custom design specified by building owners was also possible.
- These elevators are typically larger and more robust compared to their standard passenger elevator model from the same era.
- Arrival chime is the standard Hitachi bell sound in most cases.
Fixtures
These fixtures are the same as the ones used in the gearless high speed model from the same era.
Buttons
There are two types of buttons; a round touch sensitive and a round push button. The touch sensitive button is a silver button with engraved lettering and illuminating halo. The push button lights up entirely when pressed. For elevators with touch buttons, the door control buttons are always push. Emergency intercom button is a red colored protruding push button, located on a white square below the speaker.
Floor indicators and hall lanterns
The floor indicators are mostly analog with a set of illuminating circles above the door. There was also a very rare long horizontal analog display which is currently only found in Ratu Plaza, Jakarta.
Hall lanterns are round white circles (with an arrow) and lights up entirely. There was also a very rare variant of black lanterns with an illuminating arrow which is currently only found in Ratu Plaza, Jakarta. Most elevators have a combination of analog floor indicator and hall lanterns on the ground/main floor.
Other fixtures
The fixtures from the 1980s standard passenger model could also be used on these elevators. The difference is that the car floor indicator is not integrated with the transom panel (directly mounted) and not angled. Some examples of this once existed at Melawai Plaza[1] and Glodok Jaya[2] in Jakarta.
