Overview

WBST1 is a geared traction elevator of South Korean elevator manufacturer Hyundai Elevator. Released in the end of 2012, it is considered to be the first model belong to Hyundai's WB (World's Best) elevator series, and is positioned as a low-end model of the series just below the WBLX1 (LUXEN) gearless model. It is also a successor of STVF, Hyundai's previous geared elevator series that had been produced since 1997. On Hyundai's official websites and brochures, it is referred as "Geared Elevators" without a model name.

It uses the new Hyundai WBVF series microprocessor controller. Compared to the previous STVF models and all pre-WB series elevators, the controller is applied with a 32-bit ARM CORE processor for faster data processing as well as a Real-Time Operation System (RTOS) for real-time control processing capability. In addition, the controller and motor drive control has been integrated into one unit and the door operator has been improved.

At the time of release, it was often installed in low to mid rise buildings like hotels or commercial buildings completed between the early and mid 2010s but as gearless model became a trend, it became very difficult to see as a new installation. This is why WBST1 elevators are rare to see in Indonesia compared to the more premium WBLX1 (LUXEN) gearless model.

Characteristics

  • WBST1 elevators usually have loud brake noise and is usually louder than the STVF elevators.
  • Arrival chime is usually a single tone for up (which sounds almost like a 1990s GoldStar elevator) and two tone for down.
  • Most WBST1 elevators have voice announcement, and is the same announcement as the one used in WBSS1 (YZER) elevators.

Usually the buttons are the Type 41 series (round concave with a red illumination and a silver collar), but other types of buttons could also be used as an option such as Type 64 (round concave with green illumination).

Floor indicators continued to use red LED dot matrix display but certain letters and numbers (G, 2, 6, 9, etc.) now have slightly different dot pattern compared to before.

Some installations may have a combination of older and newer fixtures (e.g. Type 41 buttons with white LED dot matrix display[1], or Type 64 buttons with older red LED dot matrix display).
