Hyundai YZER (2010s)
- This article is about the newer and current Hyundai YZER machine room less elevator series produced since late 2012. For the older YZER series produced between 1999 and 2016, refer to Hyundai YZER (2000s).
Overview
YZER is a series of machine room less traction elevator models currently produced by South Korean elevator manufacturer Hyundai Elevator since 1999. The name YZER originated from the word "wiser (choice)"[1].
The current YZER series has been in production since the 2010s. This series replaced the previous YZER series (known internally as SSVF, and formerly SpaceSaver) which was produced from 1999 until the early 2010s. Overally speaking, YZER itself has been produced since 1999 and was the first machine room less elevator model in the Korean elevator industry.
Compared to the previous YZER series, the current YZER series uses the new WBVF (World Best Variable Frequency) microprocessor controller. Furthermore, it is applied with a 32-bit ARM CORE processor for faster data processing performance, and a real-time operating system (RTOS) for real-time control processing capability. In addition, the gearless machine has been changed from a disc shaped to a new rectangle shaped machine.
There are two YZER models currently sold in Indonesia; YZER-I and New YZER. There was also YZER-R but this has been discontinued. In Indonesia, YZER elevators are widely seen in small to medium sized hotels and resorts as well as medium to large sized shopping centers.
Characteristics
- WBSS elevators now use a a rectangular gearless motor with improved performance and a more silent brake sound. In addition, the door operator has been improved.
- Compared to SSVF7, ride quality has been greatly improved with smoother acceleration.
- Arrival chime used in some early WBSS elevators typically sounds almost like a Fujitec or a 1990s GoldStar elevator, same like the Hyundai WBST1 geared elevators. For newer elevators, the arrival chime sound consists of four tones. The same chime is also used on other Hyundai models, such as WBLX1 (LUXEN), WBHS1 (iXEL), etc.
- It is not possible to select floor(s) from the opposite direction the elevator is traveling until it has finished serving the last call. In addition, a floor button beep sound has been added for the first time.
- For floor indicators with white LED display, the number scrolls when passing between floors and when the elevator is on a floor the direction arrow and number will appear in turns. Red and orange LED display is the same as before, continuoing to use the distinctive "jumpy" arrow. A white version of this display also exists but very rare[2]. Larger orange LED displays have hollow dots.
- For red and orange LED displays, certain numbers and letters such as 2, 6, 9, G, etc. look slightly different than before.
Models
YZER-I (SSVF9)
This is a variant of YZER produced at the Chinese factory for export markets, and is assumed that its internal name is SSVF9. It has been produced since 2015 and is a direct successor of the previous YZER model known as SSVF7. The current capacity range is between 450 and 2500 kilograms (or 4 - 33 persons)[3]; previously the maximum capacity was 1150 kilograms[4]. Early installations adopt the design that looks similar to the SSVF7 elevators, but from the second half of 2015 a new design can be partially or fully applied to this model.
Most of the newer Hyundai YZER installations in Indonesia are of this variant.
New YZER (WBSS1 / WBSS2)
This is a variant of YZER produced at the Korean factory and is also known by its internal names as WBSS1 and WBSS2; it is said that WBSS1 was released in late 2012 and WBSS2 in mid 2014. The current capacity range is between 550 and 2500 kilograms (or 7 - 33 persons)[5]; previously it was between 450 and 1600 kilograms [6].
YZER-R
This was another YZER model whose maximum capacity is only 1000 kilograms and was produced at the Chinese factory. Not much is known about it.

Fixtures
Older installations
The fixtures used in early WBSS elevators are the same as in the SSVF7 elevators except that certain letters and numbers on the LED floor indicators now look slightly different compared to before[7][8]. There are some cases where an elevator is using a combination of older floor indicator and newer buttons such as Type 64. These fixtures were discontinued in the late 2010s.
Newer installations
The newer YZER elevators use the same fixtures as the current Hyundai LUXEN (WBLX1) and other WB series models. For more details, refer to Hyundai LUXEN (WBLX)#Fixtures
