- This article is about the newer and current Hyundai YZER machine room less elevator series produced since late 2012. For the older YZER series produced between 1999 and 2016, refer to Hyundai YZER (SSVF).
Overview
The current series of Hyundai YZER gearless elevator model produced by South Korean elevator manufacturer Hyundai Elevator is known as "WBSS". It has been produced since late 2012, replacing the previous YZER series known as "SSVF" which had been produced since 1999. It is part of Hyundai's current "World Best" (WB) elevator series.
Compared to the previous YZER series, WBSS uses a new controller known as WBVF (World Best Variable Frequency), the same controller used in other WB series models such as Hyundai WBST1, WBLX1 (LUXEN) and WBHS/WBHSS (iXEL). Furthermore, it is applied with a 32-bit ARM CORE processor for faster data processing performance, and a real-time operating system (RTOS) for real-time control processing capability. In addition, the door operator has been improved as well. It can also be applied with Hyundai's destination dispatch system H-SOLUTION (formerly known as HELIAS) as an option.
In Indonesia, it is usually seen in low rise hotels and some shopping centers.
There are two YZER models currently sold in Indonesia; YZER-I (WBSS1) and New YZER (WBSS2). There was also an economical model of YZER known as YZER-R but this has been discontinued. All of these models are produced by Shanghai Hyundai Elevator in Shanghai, China.
Characteristics
- WBSS elevators now use a a rectangular gearless motor with improved performance and a more silent brake sound. In addition, the door operator has been improved.
- Compared to SSVF7, ride quality has been greatly improved with smoother acceleration.
- Arrival chime used in some early WBSS elevators typically sounds almost like a Fujitec or a 1990s GoldStar elevator, same like the Hyundai WBST1 geared elevators. For newer elevators, the arrival chime sound consists of four tones. The same chime is also used on other Hyundai models, such as WBLX1 (LUXEN), WBHS1 (iXEL), etc.
- It is not possible to select floor(s) from the opposite direction the elevator is traveling until it has finished serving the last call. In addition, a floor button beep sound has been added for the first time.
- For floor indicators with white LED display, the number scrolls when passing between floors and when the elevator is on a floor the direction arrow and number will appear in turns. Red and orange LED display is the same as before, continuoing to use the distinctive "jumpy" arrow. A white version of this display also exists but very rare[1]. Larger orange LED displays have hollow dots.
- For red and orange LED displays, certain numbers and letters such as 2, 6, 9, G, etc. look slightly different than before.
Models
WBSS1 (YZER-I)
Released in late 2012 as a successor of SSVF7, it is positioned as a mid-range model below the New YZER (WBSS2). The maximum capacity is 2500 kilograms. Early installations adopt the design that looks similar to the SSVF7 elevators, but from the second half of 2015 the design from New YZER can be partially or fully applied to this model. It is mainly installed in small to medium sized commercial buildings, hotels as well as shopping centers.
WBSS2 (New YZER)
Released in May 2014 as an improvement of WBSS1, it is the higher end version of YZER. Most of the Hyundai machine room less elevators installed in Indonesia from the 2010s are of this model. Unlike WBSS1, the maximum capacity is 1600 kilograms.
YZER-R
This is a cost effective YZER model whose maximum capacity is only 1000 kilograms. Discontinued sometime in the early 2020s.

Fixtures
Older installations
The fixtures used in early WBSS elevators are the same as in the SSVF7 elevators except that certain letters and numbers on the LED floor indicators now look slightly different compared to before[2][3]. There are some cases where an elevator is using a combination of older floor indicator and newer buttons such as Type 64. These fixtures were discontinued in the late 2010s.
Newer installations
The newer YZER elevators use the same fixtures as the current Hyundai LUXEN (WBLX1) and other WB series models. For more details, refer to Hyundai LUXEN (WBLX)#Fixtures
