Indonesia Elevator Guide:About
Indonesia Elevator Guide (IEG) is a private wiki about the various elevators that are found in Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago country. It is a project created by an Indonesian elevator enthusiast IDL3K with the goal of providing information related with elevators in Indonesia based on brands/manufacturers, such as their history, models, notable installations, etc. The wiki is regularly updated and expanded with informations available both online and offline to improve its clarity and accuracy.
History
IEG was initially launched on ShoutWiki in 28 September 2016. However in March 2017, due to operational reason IEG was moved to Wikia (now known as FANDOM) and development on the original ShoutWiki site was halted. Since then, development of IEG on Wikia continued smoothly until 2020.
With concerns of deteriorating and poor management at FANDOM, a decision to move back to the original ShoutWiki site was made in mid 2020. Thus in August that same year, a migration was started by reviving the original site at ShoutWiki and migrating all existing articles and selected contents, one by one. It took two years to complete the migration process due to the owner's inability to migrate the wiki regularly due to real-life priorities and other factors. During the migration process, the old site at FANDOM remained online although development on the site has stopped ever since the migration started. The last major site improvement on the FANDOM wiki was done in April 2020.
On 6 September 2022, the migration process was finally completed and the old Wikia site has been completely emptied out with all of its articles and contents permanently deleted. The old site remained online until at least 14 September 2022 when it was found that the site has been permanently closed by FANDOM without request.
Why migrated from FANDOM?
Simple, because of FANDOM's horrible management, wiki skin and other technical issues that have made the wiki management more difficult and time consuming.
In case you haven't known yet, FANDOM (Wikia until 2016, why do they proudly call themselves as FANDOM anyway?) has been the subject of numerous problems and criticisms from its communities for years, and it is perhaps notorious for its dictator-like employees who generally don't listen to what the communities concern and instead do whatever they like despite objection from the communities. It's too much to describe it, so I'd suggest you read this article on The Sims Wiki at Miraheze for a detailed and better explanation about the problems at FANDOM.
That's the main reason why we've decided to move back to ShoutWiki, because FANDOM is now nothing but a horrible communist-like wiki farm run by a bunch of corrupted dictator-like employees who only care about money than what their communities think!
For reference, "New Zealand Elevator Guide" (NZEG) which was a similar wiki run by New Zealand based elevator enthusiast The ALEX ELLIS Channel (or just Alex Ellis) and was one of the main inspirations behind the creation of IEG, was abruptly shut down in 2020 without the owner's consent; even Alex himself did not request to close the wiki voluntarily. The reason behind the sudden closure is still unclear, but we suspect it was due to how bad the management at FANDOM is.
Bottom line is: Fxxx Wikia! It's nothing but a horrible dreaded wiki farm!
Friendly tips: If you're planning to create a wiki, use a good and decent wiki farm other than FANDOM because you know already the reasons above. There are numerous wiki farms on the internet to choose from, but the best ones are Miraheze or ShoutWiki. Never recommend FANDOM at all!.
Contributor
IEG is currently one-man operated, meaning that there are no contributors other than the founder himself. Since October 2016, IEG is managed by Indonesia based elevator enthusiast IDL3K, who have been documenting various elevators for more than ten years.
Please note that this is a private wiki, and you are not allowed to edit or create articles here.
