Overview
The E/N/S MonoSpace is a series of Kone MonoSpace machine room less elevator models suited for the Asia Pacific markets, produced at Kone's Kunshan factory in China. In Indonesia, it was sold between the early 2010s and early 2020s and is a successor of the previous Kone MonoSpace 3000/3000S variants. It was discontinued in the early 2020s (possibly in 2021) and was replaced by the Kone MonoSpace DX series.
There are three different variants based on the application range:
- E MonoSpace, the economical, cost effective variant designed for low to mid rise residential buildings. "E" stands for "Economical".
- N MonoSpace for low to mid rise medium sized residential and commercial buildings. This is the most common variant. "N" stands for "New".
- S MonoSpace, the extensive and more "heavy duty" variant for larger buildings with demanding traffic. It is the successor of MonoSpace 3000 S. "S" stands for "Special".
Characteristics
- Compared to the previous MonoSpace variants, the E/N/S variants have much smoother acceleration and door operation.
- Uses a newly improved EcoDisc motor (NMX series) with more silent brake sound. However, some elevators especially the S MonoSpace variant may still have audible brake sound.
- Some installations after 2019 have beeping sound if the door control buttons are pressed.

Fixtures
KDS 300
KDS 300 was launched in the mid 2000s during the MonoSpace 3000/3000S era. It was the most common fixtures series used in Indonesia.
The buttons are silver round or square with an illuminating number and edges. They can be flushed or surface mounted. Almost all KDS 300 buttons make a beep sound when pressed. There was also a square/round button variant with raised number, braille and raised frame known as KDS 300-AUS, but this is extremely rare. KDS 300-AUS is a variant designed specifically for Australia and New Zealand, which is why they are very common in there.
The floor indicators use LED dot matrix display with a scrolling arrow. They are also capable of displaying various messages in scrolling text, such as "CALL LOCKED", "PRIORITY SERVICE", "OUT OF SERVICE", etc. There were also LCD displays with white segmented numbers and arrow over a blue or black background; the interior display can be smaller or bigger. Surface mounted landing call stations and floor indicators only exist in older KDS 300 installations.
Illumination colors were available in red (standard), blue[1], white[2], orange[3], and green[4].
KDS 300 hall lanterns are either square or round and usually light up red or white. There were several different variations as well, but the square and round are the most common ones.
In 2021, KDS 300 was discontinued and replaced by KDS 330 which has been available since 2015. However, the round flushed/surface mounted KDS 300 and KDS 300-AUS buttons remain available for KDS 330 as an option to comply with accessibility requirements.
KDS 50
KDS 50 was launched in the mid 2000s during the MonoSpace 3000/3000S era. It is often seen in E and N MonoSpace elevators.
The buttons are silver round with a red or white light and are surface mounted. The round KDS 300-AUS button could also be used on KDS 50 as an option to comply with accessibility requirements. The interior floor indicator is a tall lozenge shape with either a red LED dot matrix, or blue or black LCD display. Both the landing station and floor indicators are rectangle with rounded corners.
In 2021, KDS 50 was discontinued and replaced by KDS 220 which has been available since 2016.
KDS 330
KDS 330 was launched in 2015 and it is the successor of KDS 300 since 2020. The buttons are round black with white light and can be flushed or surface mounted. Square KDS 300 and 300-AUS buttons can also be used in these fixtures.
The floor indicators can be an LCD display white segmented numbers, white LED dot matrix or colored TFT-LCD display. Hall lanterns are either long bars or black squares with illuminating white arrows. Sometimes the lanterns can be paired with a floor indicator.
Touchless KDS 330
This is a variant of KDS 330 with sensor (non contact) buttons. It was released in 2020 in response of the COVID-19 pandemic.
KDS 220
KDS 220 was launched in 2016 and is quite similar to KDS 330 apart from the smaller interior floor indicator display. It looks more like the basic version of KDS 330. Since 2021, it is the successor of KDS 50.
KDS 220 uses round black or silver buttons with white light and are surface mounted. The floor indicator display can be a white or orange 7 segment, LED dot matrix or white LCD display.
KDS Design
KDS Design is a set of surface mounted fixtures made of tinted colored glass. They are the Asia Pacific variant of Kone Design fixtures. The panel can be partial height (D20) or full height (D40). The panels have integrated buttons as well as an integrated LED dot matrix floor indicator. The LED indicators are the same as the ones in KDS 300 and 50. KDS 300-AUS buttons could also be used in these fixtures.
KDS Design is extremely rare in Indonesia, with fewer than five confirmed installations so far, they are:
- ARTOTEL Thamrin, Jakarta (2013)
- Mercure Bandung Setiabudi, Bandung
- Spazzio, Surabaya
- KOA Surfer's Hotel, Bali
KSS Design
KSS Design is the European variant of Kone Design fixtures. It is essentially the same like KDS Design (see above) except that the scrolling arrows are next to the floor number and the dot matrix pattern is the same like KSS 130, 140, 570 and 670 fixtures in Europe. In Indonesia, these fixtures can be seen at The Smith Alam Sutera in Tangerang[5] and is so far the only known place with such fixtures, thus they are extremely rare.
KSS 280
KSS 280 was launched in 2012 and to date it is the only KSS fixture series available in Indonesia. It has a very unique and distinctive design. The car station is surface mounted with rounded square buttons which light up white. There is also a variant of white button with a wraparound braille plate, but this is very rare. The floor indicators use LCD display with white segmented numbers on a large black display.
KSS 280 landing call stations are surface mounted with pressable ends and white illuminating arrow. Floor indicator, if present, is located in the middle part of the panel.
