Overview
MonoSpace DX is the current series of Kone MonoSpace machine room less elevator models sold in Indonesia since 2021, replacing the previous conventional Kone E/N/S MonoSpace variant. It is part of the Kone DX Class elevator series which has been on sale since November 2019 and incorporates cloud connectivity and based on Kone APIs.
It uses the Kone KCE control, which is a predecessor of Kone's LCE controller. The difference with the LCE-controlled Kone elevators is that the DX Class elevators use a different controller module. According to Kone, the control parameter can be configured using a console via Android or PC devices. All Kone MonoSpace DX elevators use the new NMX EcoDisc series motors, which were launched in the mid 2010s.
Like the previous variant, the MonoSpace DX is divided into three different variants based on the application:
- E MonoSpace DX: The economical and cost-effective variant aimed for residential and basic commercial buildings.
- N MonoSpace DX: The mid-range variant, designed for small to medium sized residential buildings, shopping centers, hotels and other buildings with moderate building traffic.
- S MonoSpace DX: The high end variant, designed mainly for buildings with high demanding traffic such as shopping centers, office buildings, airports, transit facilities, convention centers and other buildings.
Characteristics
This section is incomplete.
- The keyholes on the control cabinet are on the top and bottom corner (previously centered on non-DX installations).
- Some installations do not allow selecting floors from the opposite direction the elevator is traveling.
- In some cases, the arrival chime will sound after the doors have fully opened.

Fixtures
The current fixtures used in the MonoSpace DX elevators are KDS 220, KDS 330, KDS Design, KSS 280 and KSS 140[1].
KDS 330
KDS 330 was launched in 2015 and since 2020 it is the successor of KDS 300. The buttons are round black with white light and can be flushed or surface mounted. Optionally, square or round KDS 300-AUS buttons can also be used in these fixtures.
The floor indicators can be an LCD display white segmented numbers, white LED dot matrix or colored TFT-LCD display. Hall lanterns are either long bars or black squares with illuminating white arrows. Sometimes the lanterns can be paired with a floor indicator.
Touchless KDS 330
This is a variant of KDS 330 with sensor (non contact) buttons. It was released in 2020 in response of the COVID-19 pandemic.
KDS 220
KDS 220 was launched in 2016 and is quite similar to KDS 330 apart from the smaller interior floor indicator display. It looks more like the basic version of KDS 330. Since 2021, it is the successor of KDS 50.
KDS 220 uses round black or silver buttons with white light and are surface mounted. The floor indicator display can be a white or orange 7 segment, LED dot matrix or white LCD display.
KDS 660
KDS 660 was released in 2022 and feature square buttons with white illumination and LCD screens as floor indicators. The hall lanterns are thin metal plates with white illuminating V-shaped arrows.
KDS Design
KDS Design is a set of surface mounted fixtures made of tinted colored glass. The panel can be partial height (D20) or full height (D40). The panels have integrated buttons as well as an integrated LED dot matrix floor indicator. The LED indicators are the same as the ones in KDS 300 and 50. KDS 300-AUS buttons can also be used in these fixtures to comply with accessibility requirements but this is rare.
KDS Design is extremely rare in Indonesia, with fewer than five confirmed installations so far, they are:
- ARTOTEL Thamrin, Jakarta (2013)
- Mercure Bandung Setiabudi, Bandung
- Spazzio, Surabaya
- KOA Surfer's Hotel, Bali
KSS 280
KSS 280 was launched in 2012. It has a very distinctive design. The car station is surface mounted with rounded square buttons which light up white. There is also a variant of white button with a wraparound braille plate, but this is very rare. The floor indicators use LCD display with white segmented numbers on a large black display.
KSS 280 landing call stations are surface mounted with pressable ends and white illuminating arrow. Floor indicator, if present, is located in the middle part of the panel.
KSS 140
KSS 140 is a series of vandal resistant fixtures. The buttons are round grey with a small orange light in the middle and an attached braille plate with white letterings. The floor indicators are orange LED dot matrix with a mesh pattern display.
KSS 140 was launched in 2011 or 2012 and was initially offered for Europe and North America. Since the early 2020s, these fixtures are now available for the Asia region. Currently these fixtures have not yet been seen in Indonesia.
