Mitsubishi DOAS
Overview
DOAS (shorts for Destination Oriented Allocation System) is Mitsubishi's current destination dispatch system for high-rise buildings to provide much more efficient traffic flow. It was released in 2002[1].
DOAS has two different types of system configuration; Hybrid and Full. The Hybrid configuration has either a keypad or a panel with selection of available floors on the main/lobby floor where people enter or select their desired floor before entering the elevator. For other floors, there are conventional up and down landing buttons, and floor buttons are present inside the elevator cars. The Full configuration is basically like any other traditional style destination dispatch where destination keypads are located on all floors and there are no visible floor buttons inside the elevators (the buttons are actually hidden behind a locked compartment and are only used for firefighting). Most DOAS elevators in Indonesia adopts the Hybrid configuration.
The first DOAS elevators in Indonesia were installed in 2007, at the UOB Plaza in Jakarta[2]. Two years later, the world's first DOAS with integrated security gates was installed at The Plaza Office Tower in Jakarta[2].
Pakuwon Centre in Surabaya also has Mitsubishi DOAS "Hybrid" elevators, which were the first ever destination dispatch elevators in Surabaya.
Applications
DOAS are usually used in high rise office buildings. At present, it can be applied to the following Mitsubishi elevator models:
Between 2011 and 2021, it could also be applied to NexWay Modernization for upgrading high speed elevators in high rise.
Fixtures
Keypads
There are two types of DOAS landing keypads; one with orange LED dot matrix display and the other with LCD display. Both type uses smaller round stainless steel buttons with black letter; they are known as VF type.
Touch screens
These are LCD touch screens with either black (default), white, green, brown, or blue interface. They can be flushed or directly mounted on the wall.
Landing panels with floor buttons
Normally found in older DOAS installations, these landing panels have a set of fixed floor buttons with a small LED display beside each button which shows the assigned elevator car. The buttons are the same as the ones used in the Mitsubishi GPS-III and GPM-III elevators, which are known as M type.
Hall destination displays and lanterns
Some DOAS installations have a horizontal display above the landing door of each car which shows the registered floor(s) served by the specific elevator car.
The default hall lanterns are the same like any other Mitsubishi elevators except that they have car identification letter.
