Overview

Mitsubishi EP was a low cost elevator model produced by Mitsubishi from the 1980s until the early 1990s. It is a low cost standard traction passenger elevator model designed for low rise residential and basic commercial buildings, usually up to 10 floors. According to Mitsubishi, the model is based on conventional two-speed AC primary voltage control method but the controller is computerized and digital with the use of microcomputer. The controller name used in the EP model is called AC-E4LP.

The EP series model was discontinued in the early 1990s and its successor is estimated to be the Mitsubishi GPX model which was launched in 1998.

In Indonesia, this model was mainly installed in low rise office buildings as well as hotels built in the 1980s. It seems that the number of installation is very low, which means that this is an extremely rare model and very difficult to find.

Characteristics

  • These elevators have simple and basic appearance. Some features were omitted to reduce construction cost.
  • They usually only serve around four to six floors, and only run at 1 meters per second.
  • No door close button inside the elevator, and pressing a floor button does not cause the door to close immediately.
  • Arrival chime, if any, is a bell sound.

There is also no switch cabinet on the button panel.
