Overview

Otis 2000 was a series of European Otis elevator models for low to mid rise buildings in Europe, introduced in 1993. Mainly sold in Europe, it was also available to other regions around the world including Asia. It has been known that this series was produced in Germany and Spain.

In Indonesia, this is a very rare series as Citas Otis had only installed very few units in the late 1990s.

Characteristics

  • Otis 2000 elevators have a very distinctive design. The car station has two vertical lights on the sides and the ceiling is curved without lights.
  • Arrival chime is a distinctive high pitched electronic sound.

Models

Otis 2000

This is the standard two speed AC passenger model with geared motor. Not much is known about it.

Otis 2000 E

This is the cost effective passenger model of the Otis 2000 series, designed for low to mid rise residential and commercial buildings. It is a two speed AC traction model with a slightly abrupt starting and stopping. The speed is only 1 meters per second and the maximum capacity is 1600 kilograms or 21 persons. This model is believed to be a successor of the Otis Europa 2000 model in Europe.

Otis 2000 VF

A passenger elevator model with VVVF inverter, and the most commonly seen model. It was designed for low to mid rise buildings. Almost all Otis 2000 elevators in Indonesia were of this model and it seems to be the only one sold by Citas Otis Elevator at that time. The maximum speed and capacity is 2.5 meters per second and 1600 kilograms (or 21 persons) respectively.

Otis 2000 H

This is the hydraulic passenger model of Otis 2000. It is a roped hydraulic model with either a solenoid or controlled valve. The maximum speed is 1 meters per second, and the capacity range is between 320 and 1000 kilograms (or 4 to 13 persons). Doors were available in center opening or telescopic side opening[1].

Cargo 2000

This is the freight elevator model of Otis 2000 for shopping centers and industrial buildings. It was available in traction with variable frequency drive and hydraulic with solenoid valve drive. The maximum capacity is 5000 kilograms.

Fixtures

Otis 2000 elevators have very distinctive fixtures. The car station has vertical lights on the sides and is mounted on the side wall. The landing call station is rounded rectangle and is mounted on the wall or in some cases, door frame.

Buttons

The buttons are silver coated concave buttons with green or red illuminating halo, similar to Otis Series 3 fixtures used on the Otis Elevonic 411 elevators. Vandal resistant buttons also exist; these buttons are also concave but with a little red light in the middle.

Floor indicators

The floor buttons sit on a button plate with white illuminated numbers. The floor indicators use blue LCD display with white segmented numbers and arrow. In some cases, the landing floor indicator uses LED segmented display.
