Overview

Spec 60VF was an Otis traction elevator model produced by Nippon Otis in Japan between 1986 and mid 1990s. A successor of Otis Spec 50, Spec 60VF is an AC geared model with variable voltage and variable frequency (VVVF) inverter and microcomputer controls; it was the first Nippon Otis model with VVVF inverter. The model was discontinued in the mid 1990s and was succeeded by the Otis 200VF and 300VF.

In Indonesia, this model was mainly used in low rise commercial and hotel buildings, usually less than 12 floors. It was also available as a bed/stretcher and panoramic model.

Charateristics

  • Compared to Spec 50, the ride quality is much smoother due to the application of VVVF inverters. The frequency noise emitted from the VVVF inverter can sometimes be heared on the top floor during operation.
  • Arrival chime is typically a mechanical bell sound. There is also a single tone electronic sound but this is extremely rare.
  • Leveling is generally much slower compared to Spec 50.

Known specifications

To be added.

Fixtures

Most elevators have angled car stations made of aluminum, but some others have flat stainless steel car stations.

Buttons

All Spec 60VF elevators use the same type of buttons as the ones from Spec 50, but with different arrows. The emergency alarm and intercom button have been changed to rectangle shaped.

Floor indicators

The floor indicators have been updated with a 16-segments display, and the car floor indicator has been moved to the top of the car station. Some elevators have a separate landing floor indicator mounted above the door.
