Shanghai Mitsubishi (Chinese: 上海三菱电梯有限公司) is an elevator company based in Minhang, Shanghai, China.

Overview

It is a subsidiary of the elevator division of Mitsubishi of Japan, as well as one of the largest elevator manufacturers in China. The headquarters and factory are located in Minhang, a district of Shanghai, China. It was established in 1987 under a joint venture consisted of four companies; Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical Investment Corporation, China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Ryoden Holdings (Hong Kong).

In the past, it had a direct technical association with Mitsubishi Electric, so the elevators produced between the late 1980s and early 2000s were basically rebranded Mitsubishi elevators. By the early 2000s, it began developing its own products but still retains some of the features from Mitsubishi.

Shanghai Mitsubishi in Indonesia

It is believed that Shanghai Mitsubishi entered Indonesia in the 1990s through an unknown distributor.

In Indonesia, it is currently distributed by three different distributors PT. Wahana Elok Langgeng Lestari (known as WELL), PT. Cahaya Cipta Abadi and PT. Wahana Indah Selaras Eltraeska (known as WISE). Of the three companies, WELL appears to be the one that has installed the most number of Shanghai Mitsubishi products in the country.

It is usually found in high rise apartments, hotels and often medium to large sized shopping centers.
