Third party elevator companies

Third-party elevator companies (or commonly referred as generic elevator companies) are small to medium sized elevator companies in Indonesia that provide elevator installations and/or maintenance services locally.

Overview

Contrary to popular believes, third-party elevator companies generally do not produce their own elevators. Instead, they assemble their elevators using imported components (usually from China) and sell them under their own trademark. Some companies may assemble their elevators using a combination of locally made and imported components to reduce costs. Besides elevators, some companies also provide escalator and/or moving walk installations which, again, are only complete products imported from China.

In summary, how these companies usually do are:

  • Buy the components from foreign companies that produce different kinds of elevator components. Most of these foreign companies are from China (e.g. Shanghai STEP, Suzhou Monarch, NBSL, etc.) while some others are from South Korea (e.g. Samil Eltec), Taiwan (e.g. Jinlix and Hong Jiang), and Europe.
  • Import and assemble them into complete elevators at their headquarters or manufacturing facility.
  • Sell them under their own trademark.

Third-party elevator companies also provide modernization for older elevators regardless of brand and age. Similarly, these modernizations use imported components just like complete elevators for new installations. A few companies, however, only provide maintenance and repair services and do not install elevators and/or escalators at all.

List of third party elevator companies

Note: "PT." stands for "Perseroan Terbatas" which means "company limited" (Co. Ltd.), while CV. stands for "Commanditaire Vennootschap" (Dutch words, in Bahasa Indonesia means "Persekutuan Komanditer") which means "limited partnership".

There are numerous third party elevator companies operating in Indonesia, ranging from well known ones to smaller less known ones.

Major companies

These are some of the companies that have a well known reputation and have installed quite a lot of elevators in Indonesia:

Pillar Utama Contrindo

Trademark: Pillar

Established in 1998 in Bandung, it started out as a company providing maintenance services for Korean branded elevators and escalators in Bandung, West Java. It is probably a local generic company with the most number of installations in Indonesia. Almost all of its elevators use Shanghai STEP control systems and fixtures from China, but in recent years they began using parts made by Chinese company NBSL. It also installs escalators and moving walks under their own brand, which are actually made by Suzhou Xinda Escalator Accessories Co., Ltd. in China and are essentially knock-off Schindler products.

Louserindo Megah Permai

Trademark: Louser Lift

Established in 1987 by former Otis elevator technicians. It is known to use Samil Eltec "SICON" control systems and Haisung machine from South Korea for most of its elevators, and almost all of its older installations use Jinlix fixtures from Taiwan. A number of old Otis elevators in Indonesia have been modernized by this company. They also install Kleemann elevators from Greece, often co-branding them as "Kleemann Louser Lift".

Marico Gria

Trademark: MG

Established in 1984 as Thyssindo Griatama and was initially a distributor for Thyssen elevators and escalators until 1999, and later ThyssenKrupp until 2005. It is known for using German made Schneider Steuerungstechnik GmbH (LiSA) control systems for new installations, but it also use Shanghai STEP controls quite often for both new installations and modernization. It is also a distributor of several foreign elevator brands such as MacPhuarsa from Spain, as well as Sepac and Walec from China.

Abdi Teknik Jaya

Trademark: Abtech Lift

A small-medium sized company operating since 1999. Its elevators are usually found in small low rise buildings and occasionally hospitals, and they are often basic and simple.

Indoraya Nusantara Djaya

Trademark: LINES

A company based in Jakarta whose history remains a bit unclear. Previously known by its trademark name LINE, it is known for using Mico control systems and fixtures from China, but in recent years it has switched to use fixtures made by Nantong Hunter. It has a representative in the province of Bali known as PT. Sukuba Indo Jaya which apart from distributing LINES elevators, also distributes Siglen and Fuji Electric (Fe) elevators from China.

Etika Sejahtera

Trademark: Delta Lift

A smaller generic elevator company from Sidoarjo, East Java. It installs elevators with Mico control systems and fixtures just like LINES, so it is often confused with LINES due to their similarities.

Kori Elesca Utama

Trademark: KORI

Based in Surabaya. Its elevators are easily recognized by their rather unique looking button fixtures with green and red (dual) light. It is said to be run by a South Korean expatriate.

Koppelindo Elevators

Trademark: Cremona

Based in Jakarta, this is a company who, apart from distributing Koppel AW elevators from Italy, also sells their own elevators under the Cremona brand since 2012. Like LINES and Delta Lift, they use Mico controllers and fixtures so the design is very similar. It was established in 1999.

Tamiang Multi Trada

Trademark: Tamiang

Established in 2004, it is perhaps well known for its overrated self proclaimed "Indonesia Bisa" (English: "Indonesia Can") slogan on its social medias for promoting its products and services, allegedly to make people think that its products are made locally despite there are no proper evidences that show the company is capable of producing its own products. Most of their projects are replacement or modernization of older elevators of any brands, but they also install a number of elevators for new buildings. It also appears to be related with two other generic companies; Fujita Nayottama (FUJI TA) and Sei Liput Perdana.
