Overview
GL, also known as TE-GL was a gearless traction elevator model of German elevator manufacturer ThyssenKrupp (now TK Elevator). It was produced in Zhongshan, China from the early 2000s until 2018/2019 when it was succeeded by ThyssenKrupp/TKE meta100 and meta200 models. GL was designed for low to mid rise buildings.
In Indonesia, it is mainly found in high rise apartments and some low rise office buildings.
Characteristics
GL elevators are known to level quick. The motor brake sound can sometimes be heard on the top floor. Newer GL elevators sounds almost similar to Evolution MRL elevators when they start up.

Almost all elevators would play the standard ThyssenKrupp 3-stages chime when you press a floor button while the elevator is free (i.e. no other calls to serve).
First generation elevators (early-late 2000s)
Buttons
There were two button types. The first one is STEP Module Classic which is a surface mounted square button with illuminating halo and letter. The second is MT 42 which is a flushed square metal button with illuminating halo and letter.
Floor indicators
The car floor is either a rectangle or parallelogram shaped with LED dot matrix display, the latter features a diagonal scrolling arrow. Landing floor indicator could be above the door or integrated with the call station.
Second generation (late 2000s-mid 2010s)
Buttons
The buttons are usually STEP Classic Module or MT 42. There was also an optional button known as AR 170 which is shaped like a barrel.
Floor indicators and hall lanterns
The car floor indicator is either octagon or rounded rectangle shaped, and uses LED dot matrix display. Landing floor indicator could be above the door or integrated with the call station. Hall lanterns are usually triangle shaped which light up green and red.
Third generation (late 2010s-2018)
Buttons
The buttons are usually STEP Classic Module or MT 42. There was also an optional button known as AR 170 which is shaped like a barrel, as well as a large sized square button known as BE 200.
Floor indicators
These floor indicators use either LED dot matrix or a blue LCD display with white segments, and the car floor indicator is now rectangle. Landing floor indicator could be above the door or integrated with the call station. Elevators installed after 2016 have the simplified "thyssenkrupp" logo.
