Overview

CV40 is an elevator model of Japanese elevator manufacturer Toshiba which was produced in the 1980s. It is a standard AC geared passenger elevator model with microcomputer controller and was designed for low to mid rise commercial and residential buildings. It is based on the Toshiba Elemate Celebrum III in Japan which was released in 1983[1]. It was discontinued in the late 1990s and succeeded by the Toshiba CV60 model which adopts a VVVF inverter.

This model was also produced by South Korean elevator manufacturer Dong Yang under license by Toshiba. The design remain almost the same apart from the brand name. It was produced at the Cheonan factory in South Korea from 1989 until 1995[2].

In Indonesia, CV40 (both from Toshiba and Dong Yang) is an extremely rare model and as of August 2023 only one known installation remains. It is estimated that this model was mainly installed in low rise office buildings and hotels.

Characteristics

  • This model can be easily distinguished by the "blinking" car floor indicator when the elevator is traveling. It stops blinking when the elevator stops.
  • Compared to the previous models, ride quality has been improved and is now smoother.
  • Standard elevators have laminated car walls, a set of four lights (one on each corner), and a centralized blade type fan on the ceiling. The doors are slim, and the car door sills have a silver "TOSHIBA" emblem. There is usually only one door bumper.
  • Arrival chime sound is not known, but the Dong Yang version uses bell sound.

Fixtures

Buttons

The button is a very small soft pressure grey rectangle button with a small green LED light next to it. The landing call buttons are round plastic with a square halo; they light up green for up and red for down.

Floor indicators

The floor indicator inside the elevator is an analog display with a set of LED green lights that blink when the elevator is moving. It is located above the door.

Hall stations use the same analog display but the lights do not blink at all. There was also an overhead analog display with a set of illuminating squares.

  • Bank Rakyat Indonesia - Blok M Branch, Jakarta
