A 2000s Dong Yang elevator in Kemang, Jakarta.

This article is about Dong Yang elevators produced in the early 2000s, which include standard passenger and freight traction elevators.

Overview

Models that were produced by Dong Yang in the 2000s are known as DY series, a successor of the CV series models produced in the 1990s. These were the first models to be independently developed by Dong Yang after terminating its partnership with Toshiba in 1999, a practice that had been going on since its establishment. The first DY model was DY20, a standard passenger elevator model released in 1998. In 2001, DY30 was released as an improvement of DY20. These models were continued to be produced after the merger with ThyssenKrupp in 2003 under the "ThyssenKrupp Dongyang" name until 2007 when they were succeeded by the TK series models developed by ThyssenKrupp Elevator Korea (now TK Elevator Korea).

Only a few of these elevators were installed in Indonesia in the early 2000s as at that time Dong Yang was about to be acquired by ThyssenKrupp in 2003. Some of them have already been replaced or modernized by another company, so finding one is very difficult.

Passenger elevators

Dong Yang had two passenger elevator models; DY20 and DY30. The DY20 was released in 1998 as the first model to be solely developed by Dong Yang, and DY30 was released in 2001 as an improvement of DY20. Both are successor of the CV series models.

Fixtures

Since the end of partnership with Toshiba in the late 1990s, Dong Yang had come up with their own design of fixtures when they started developing the DY series models. The standard buttons are silver oval shaped with a red illuminating halo, letter and a very small curved line. The floor indicator is usually located above the door which could be a long rectangle or oval display with either a digital segment or LED dot matrix display. Direction arrows inside the car are located on the capacity cover.

Trivia

  • The DY letter on the model names is an abbreviation of the company's name, Dong Yang.
