This article is about a standard passenger elevator model of Japanese elevator manufacturer Hitachi from the 1990s. There is no known name for this model.

Overview

This is a low to medium speed passenger elevator model that was produced by Japanese elevator manufacturer Hitachi between the mid 1990s and early 2000s, and is believed to be a successor of the 1990s Hitachi "Computer Control" elevator model. It is an AC geared traction model with VVVF inverter control, and was designed for low to high rise buildings. It was most likely discontinued in the early 2000s and was succeeded by the Hitachi VFI model.

In this model, the design and fixtures have been largerly updated and some improvements have been made.

No official name is known for this model. Some people in the elevator community claim it as "VFMG" (for low to mid rise installations) and "VFHG" (for high rise installations), but these names are still unconfirmed due to lack of evidences. The microprocessor controller name for the so called "VFMG" elevators is VF3-SK[1].

In Indonesia, this model was mainly installed in low to mid rise office buildings built in the 1990s.

Characteristics

  • Smooth acceleration and deceleration.
  • When the elevator reaches the top or bottom floor, the arrow on the floor indicator will changes direction as soon as the bell chime rings.
  • Arrival chime is either the standard Hitachi mechanical bell or a two-tone electronic sound.
  • Door bumpers are notoriously noisy when the doors open and close.
  • Sometimes when there are multiple elevator cars, one of them will park on the ground/main floor with its doors open.

Fixtures

Buttons

The buttons are dark grey rectangle with an orange light in the middle and raised edges, often known as the "B89" series. Emergency intercom button is placed under the speaker.

Some installations use the older buttons from the 1990s Hitachi "Computer Control" elevators.

Floor indicators

The car floor indicator spans the entire door width and is a horizontal display with LED dot matrix. The capacity and "HITACHI" logo are listed there.

Landing floor indicator uses LED dot matrix display, either above the landing door or integrated with the call station.

There are two known hall lanterns design. The first one is square which lights up green for up and red for down, and the second is crystal-shaped which lights up white.
