This article is about a passenger elevator model produced by Japanese elevator manufacturer Hitachi in the 1970s. There is no known name for this model.

Overview

This is a standard two speed AC geared traction passenger elevator model designed for low to mid rise residential and commercial buildings. The control uses mechanical relays. The capacity range is estimated to be between 6 and 15 persons, and the speed is typically 1 meters per second.

The model name is not known, but it is based on the Hitachi BUIL-ACE A model in Japan which was released in 1970[1] as a successor of the Hitachi New A-Type passenger elevator model. Later on the model was slightly updated with rectangle buttons, which was based on the Hitachi BUIL-ACE P passenger elevator model in Japan (released in 1975)[2]. It was sold until around the late 1970s when it was succeeded by Hitachi's 1980s standard passenger elevator model.

It seems that this was the first Hitachi model to adopt a two-way emergency communication system (intercom) between the elevator car and building control room.

In Indonesia, this model was imported through Sarang Teknik Indonesia (the distributor of Hitachi elevators) throughout the 1970s. It is an extremely rare model that is now almost impossible to see as almost all of them have been replaced.

Characteristics

  • A standard elevator usually comes with painted or laminated car walls and door, four square lights on the ceiling (two for smaller sized elevators), and a central blade type ventilation fan.
  • Ride quality is generally poor with abrupt stopping due to the age of the elevator.

Fixtures

For older model (based on BUIL-ACE A)

The buttons are round white plastic which light up when pressed. The call buttons are rectangle glass-like and are combined with the landing floor indicator. Door control buttons are worded, and the emergency alarm button is a white rectangle on a rectangle area which says "EMERGENCY CALL".

The floor indicators are analog display, which are a set of illuminating squares above the car door and circles on the landing call station.

For newer model (based on BUIL-ACE P)

For the updated model, the buttons are protruding rectangle with illuminating edges. The typeface is also different. Door control buttons are worded, and the alarm button is a small red button under the speaker.

The floor indicators are analog display with a set of illuminating squares above the car door and on the landing call stations. There were also overhead landing floor indicators with illuminating circles.
