Jump to: navigation, search

This article refers to a particular type of Toshiba elevators that are manufactured by MS Elevators Sdn. Bhd. (now Toshiba Elevator Manufacturing Asia Sdn. Bhd.) of Malaysia. They are often known under their trademark "Mashiba".

Overview

These particular elevators are manufactured by Mashiba Elevators Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of MS Elevators Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (a joint venture between MS Group and Toshiba) in Kedah, Malaysia. They are available as a conventional model with an overhead machine room and machine room less. Most of these elevators are unbranded, but there are very few ones which are branded as MASHIBA or TOSHIBA.

On 15 July 2022, MS Elevators Sdn. Bhd. and MS Elevators Engineering Sdn. Bhd. changed their name to Toshiba Elevator Manufacturing Asia Sdn. Bhd. and Toshiba Elevator (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. respectively[1]. They were established in 1983 and 1982 respectively.

Toshindo Elevator Utama, the distributor of Toshiba elevators and escalators in Indonesia, has been importing and installing "Mashiba" elevators in Indonesia since around the mid 2000s. They are mostly found in low to high rise rise office buildings and hotels. The most well known ones are in Gandaria City and Kota Kasablanka shopping malls in Jakarta.

2000s to 2010s

Malaysian Toshiba elevators produced between the 2000s and 2010s have no known model names, but the machine room less model is known as Oracle according to the old website of Mashiba[2]. It had a capacity range between 410 and 1635 kilograms (or 6 to 24 persons).

Fixtures

These elevators use the standard silver square buttons and LED dot matrix floor indicators with scrolling arrows. These indicators are also capable of displaying special messages in a form of marquee (sideway scrolling) text, such as "FULL" (over load), "OUT OF SERVICE", "INDEPENDENT" (for Independent Service Mode), etc.[3][4][5] It is unknown if the same thing also applies for the interior floor indicator. Wheelchair panels usually use third party buttons made by Jinlix from Taiwan. The chimes are either the standard 2000s Toshiba chimes or a bell chime.

2010s to current

Models

There are currently four models of traction passenger elevator produced by Mashiba. These models use gearless motors manufactured by German company EDAM.

R2100 / R2100L

This is a machine room less passenger model. The difference between the two models is the capacity range; R2100 is 630-1150 kilograms while R2100L is 1150-2000 kilograms. They are considered to be a successor of Oracle, Mashiba's previous machine room less model produced between the 2000s and 2010s.

R3100 / R3100L

This is a conventional traction passenger model with an overhead machine room. Like the machine room models mentioned above, the difference between the two models is the capacity range; R2100 is 630-1150 kilograms while R2100L is 1150-2000 kilograms.

Fixtures

Both the machine room less (R2100/R2100L) and conventional machine room (R3100/R3100L) models use the same fixtures. These fixtures consist of third party buttons made by Chinese company Nantong Hunter, and floor indicators with LED dot matrix display.
