Fujitec Elevators (1990s)
This article is about 1990s Fujitec elevators.
Overview
Very little is known about 1990s Fujitec elevators. In Indonesia, these elevators are mainly found in high rise office buildings in Jakarta completed in the 1990s, such as Wisma 46 in Jakarta which contains the tallest Fujitec elevator installations in Indonesia to this date.
Characteristics
- Arrival chime is usually a bell sound for older installations (late 1980s-mid 1990s), and electronic sound for newer installations from the mid 1990s onward.
- On elevators with LED dot matrix floor indicators, the scrolling arrow follows the elevator's movement (i.e. slows down when the elevator is arriving). In addition, a single or double strike (- or --) is shown when the elevator is traveling on non-stopping floors or express zone.
- For older elevators with segmented displays, the number blinks when changing.
- Most elevators have square metallic door bumpers. High speed elevators (AC-GL model) typically have fast door operation.
- Car calls from the opposite direction cannot be accepted. For example, if the elevator is traveling upward car calls from the lower floors will be rejected.
Elevator models
All models below are traction unless otherwise stated.
Exceldyne ii
This is a standard passenger elevator model with inverter control and is a successor of the original Exceldyne (EXDN) model that was first launched in 1984. The launching year is not known but it was produced until the 2000s. This model has not yet been found in Indonesia.
AC-GD
Estimated to be a low to mid rise AC geared model. For reference, the parking elevators at Wisma 46, Jakarta were of this model[1].
Known installations in Indonesia:
Wisma 46, Jakarta(retail elevators, replaced into Fujitec REXIA)- Millennium Sirih Hotel, Jakarta (1994)
AC-GL
This was the flagship custom ordered high speed gearless model of Fujitec for high rise buildings in the 1990s. The capacity range is between 1000 and 1600 kilograms and the speed range is between 2 and 7 meters per second (or 120-420 meters per minute). Almost all high rise Fujitec elevators installed in tall office buildings in Jakarta are of this model, including Wisma 46[1]. The discontinuation year is not known but this model was produced until around the 2000s. The successor of this model is ELSIA.
Known installations in Indonesia:
- Wisma 46, Jakarta (1996)
- Shangri-La Jakarta, Jakarta (1993, modernized by Fujitec in the 2010s)
- Sona Topas Tower, Jakarta (1993)
- Midplaza II, Jakarta (1995)
- Menara Batavia, Jakarta (1996)
BRI II, Jakarta(1992-2018, replaced into Fujitec ELSIA)- Plaza 89, Jakarta (1990, modernized by Fujitec)
- Directorate General of Immigration, Jakarta
- Shangri-La Surabaya, Surabaya (1996, presumably)
Fixtures
Buttons
The buttons are usually square or round stainless steel with red illuminating edges and black letters in the middle. Some older installations from the late 1980s or early 1990s use round or square white buttons which light up entirely when pressed[2]. It was also possible to be fitted with white octagon shaped buttons, the same buttons that were used in the Fujitec Royal Superdyne Imperial (RSDN) model in the 1980s.
Later installations use soft pressure grey square buttons with orange lights on the middle and sides[3].
Floor indicators and hall lanterns
Floor indicator vary depending on the installation year. Elevators installed between the late 1980s and early 1990s usually use 16-segments display while those installed from the mid 1990s onward use LED dot matrix display with scrolling arrow. They are usually positioned above the car door, but there are some cases where the indicator is on the car station.
Hall lanterns are usually custom that come in different shapes. Standard lanterns are crystal-like triangles that light up green for up and red for down.
