Overview

The GoldStar H series refers to a series of medium to high speed traction elevator models produced by LG Industrial Systems Elevator (formerly GoldStar) from 1992 until 2001. It was produced at the Changwon factory in South Korea, and continued to be produced under the "LG" trademark after GoldStar changed name to LG in 1995. These models were designed for high rise buildings with 30 floors or more. The successor of these models are the Distributed Inverter "DS-4" and "Di5" models, developed by LG in the late 1990s.

In Indonesia, these models were not widely installed so it is very difficult to find. They were only installed in high rise office buildings and apartments in Jakarta.

Models

GoldStar's elevator models used three digit naming format:

  • The first digit refers to the speed ("L" for low, "M" for mid, and "H" for high).
  • The second digit ("V") refers to the application of variable frequency inverters.
  • The last digit refers to the type of usage (e.g. "P" is a passenger elevator type).

For example, the LVP model is a standard low speed passenger elevator model, whereas MVS is a medium speed service elevator model.

All of these models were produced at the Changwon factory in Changwon, South Korea. Technical specifications such as capacity are not known due to lack of information.

HVP-I

This is a medium speed passenger elevator model for buildings with up to 30 floors. It uses helical geared motors and the speed range is between 1.5 and 2.5 meters per second. It was released in 1992 and discontinued in 2001. The successor the Distributed Inverter "DS-4" model (initially known as Di4).

HVP-II

This is a high speed passenger elevator model for buildings with more than 30 floors. It uses gearless motor and the speed range is between 2 and 6 meters per second. The successor is the Distributed Inverter "Di5" model.

HVS

This is the service elevator version of HVP-I.

HVF

This is the freight elevator version of HVP-I.

HGP

Launched in 1997 by LG Industrial Systems Elevator, this is an improvement of the HVP-I and HVP-II models. The difference is that this model now adopts Insulated Gated Bipolar Transistor (IGBT), but other than that the design remained the same as before. It was sold even after the launching of the Distributed Inverter (Di) series models.

Fixtures

The fixtures used in these models were almost the same as the ones used in the L and M series elevators. For more details, refer to GoldStar L series#Fixtures.
