Overview

The M series refers to a series of medium speed traction elevator models produced by LG Industrial Systems Elevator (GoldStar) from 1990 until 2000. These models were produced at the Changwon factory in South Korea, and continued to be produced under the "LG" trademark after GoldStar changed its name to LG. It is the predecessor of the Distributed Inverter (Di1 & Di2) models, developed by LG in the late 1990s.

It is a series of medium speed elevator models whose maximum speed is 1.75 meters per second. These models were designed for low to high rise buildings, usually up to 20 floors. In Indonesia, these models were mainly installed in low to mid rise office buildings and hotels, as well as some large shopping centers.

Models

GoldStar's elevator models used three digit naming format:

  • The first digit refers to the speed ("L" for low, "M" for mid, and "H" for high).
  • The second digit ("V") refers to the application of variable frequency inverters.
  • The last digit refers to the type of usage (e.g. "P" is a passenger elevator type).

For example, the LVP model is a standard low speed passenger elevator model, whereas MVS is a medium speed service elevator model.

All of these models were produced at the Changwon factory in Changwon, South Korea. Technical specifications such as capacity are not known due to lack of information.

MVP/MVS/MVO/MVB/MVF

Models belong to this series are:

  • MVP: Passenger elevator
  • MVS: Passenger/service elevator
  • MVO: Panoramic elevator
  • MVB: Bed elevator for hospitals
  • MVF: Freight elevator

MGP/MGB/MGS/MGO

Launched in 1996 by LG Industrial Systems Elevator, these models are basically an improvement of the MVP/MVB/MVS/MVP models. In these models, Insulated Gated Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) is adopted, floor button beep has been added and floor cancel feature is supported as an option. Other than that, the design remained the same as before. These models were sold until 2003.

Fixtures

GoldStar/LG M series elevators use the same type of fixtures that were used in the L series elevators. For more details about the fixtures, refer to GoldStar L series#Fixtures.
