Overview

ELCOSMO-III is the current model of traction passenger elevator of Japanese elevator manufacturer Toshiba sold since the early 2010s. It is the successor and improvement of the original Toshiba ELCOSMO model which was sold from the 2000s until the early 2010s. The model is currently produced by Toshiba Elevator (China) Co. Ltd. in China.

It uses a cylinder shaped gearless motor similar to its predecessor, and the motor is installed on the side of the machine room due to the fact that the model adopts 2:1 roping configuration. The design and fixtures have been significantly updated and are also used on the Toshiba SPACEL-III machine room less model.

In Indonesia, this model is difficult to see as it is not widely installed. It is usually seen in high rise apartments and occasionally office buildings.

A white illumination is now available as an option for the KB series buttons.

The new four button types are known as the GS series, they are:

  • GS-1A: Flushed black square button with illuminating edges.
  • GS-2A: Flushed silver square button with illuminating edges and letter.
  • GS-3A: Protruding silver square button with illuminating edges and letter.
  • GS-4A: Protruding black square button with illuminating edges and letter.

In the late 2010s, two new additional buttons (GS-3LB/square, and GS-SB-WT/round) and a black LCD floor indicator with white segmented numbers become available.

Floor indicators and hall lanterns

The car floor indicators have been redesigned from lozenge to rectangle shaped. The display can be orange or white LED dot matrix, or color LCD. Direction arrow is now above the floor number.

Hall lanterns come in different shapes and they usually light up orange or white. Some elevators have a combination of landing floor indicator and hall lanterns above the door.
