Overview

LEHY-MRL is a machine room less elevator model that was produced by Shanghai Mitsubishi between the early and 2020. Part of the LEHY gearless elevator series, it was one of Shanghai Mitsubishi's two machine room less models sold for overseas markets (the other one is the Elenessa). It uses a cylindrical shaped gearless motor.

In the mid 2010s, the model received an updated design and fixtures which would later be carried out to the LEHY-MRL-II, the successor model. Finally, it was discontinued in 2020 and succeeded by the LEHY-MRL-II.

In Indonesia, it is mainly seen in low rise hotels and occasionally commercial buildings. Most of the Shanghai Mitsubishi machine room less elevators installed in Indonesia in the 2010s are of this model so it is more commonly seen compared to the Shanghai Mitsubishi Elenessa model.

Characteristics

A Shanghai Mitsubishi LEHY-MRL elevator can be easily distinguished by a keyhole on the top floor landing station (click photo to view).
  • Similar to Mitsubishi Elenessa and NEXIEZ-MRL, Shanghai Mitsubishi LEHY-MRL can be easily distinguished by the keyhole on the top floor landing station where the inspection control board is concealed behind it (see photo on the top right). Therefore if a Shanghai Mitsubishi has a keyhole on the top floor landing station, then it's definitely a LEHY-MRL.
  • The design and fixtures used in older LEHY-MRL are similar to Shanghai Mitsubishi LEHY-II except for the following differences:
    • The landing stations are always wider with rounded corners.
    • Floor indicators have scrolling arrows, with a bigger and wider display for the interior indicator. However, very few elevators do not have scrolling arrows inside[1][2].
    • Buttons were only available in two types, unlike LEHY-II which had four types.
    • Alarm button is placed in line with the door control buttons.
  • Newer LEHY-MRL elevators produced since the mid 2010s onward use the same design as the LEHY-III model, so it is often mistaken with the LEHY-III. Therefore the only way to tell of it's machine room less or not is to see if the top floor landing station has a keyhole or not.
  • Arrival chime is always a four-tone sound since the beginning.
  • LEHY-MRL uses a cylindrical motor. LEHY-MRL-II, its successor, uses a slim disk-shaped motor instead.

Fixtures

Older models

There are two types of buttons. One is a flushed round silver button with orange illuminating letter and halo, and the other one is a round black button with white illuminating letter. If the latter is used, the operating panels have dark grey resin like materials (something like the "waveline" panel used in the Mitsubishi GPS elevators). The floor indicator display can be a dot matrix display (with bigger number and scrolling arrows) or two different types of LCD display.

Newer models

The fixtures used in the newer LEHY-MRL since the mid 2010s are the same as the ones used in LEHY-III, featuring round silver buttons (with orange, white or blue illumination) and floor indicators with either a standard Mitsubishi LED dot matrix or colored LCD display.
