Predecessor Mitsubishi Elenessa Successor Mitsubishi NEXIEZ-MRL Version2

Overview

NEXIEZ-MRL is one of Mitsubishi's current machine room less elevator models for low to mid rise buildings, and is part of the Mitsubishi NEXIEZ lineup. Released in 2011[1][2], it is the successor of Mitsubishi Elenessa. NEXIEZ-MRL is produced by Mitsubishi Elevator Asia Co. Ltd. in Chonburi, Thailand.

It is almost similar to Elenessa in terms of mechanical and design, with a slim gearless machine and control board. Likewise, the inspection control board is stored behind the top floor landing station which requires a special key to unlock it. Mitsubishi claims that this unique configuration was designed to save space and not to affect the surrounding of the elevator entrance.

Since its release, it has become the flagship MRL model of Mitsubishi, a status that was previously held by Elenessa. As the result, it has become a popular model which has been widely installed in shopping centers, hotels and other buildings in Indonesia. It has also led to the change of the currrent Elenessa model from a flagship model to a large-capacity model only, as its lower range capacity has now been covered by NEXIEZ-MRL.

In October 2021, Mitsubishi launched an improvement of this model known as NEXIEZ-MRL Version2[3].

Characteristics

If the top floor landing station has a keyhole, then it's either NEXIEZ-MRL or Elenessa (click for a bigger photo)

NEXIEZ-MRL can be tell by its "tapping" sound generated by the motor when the elevator starts and stops. The doors would always make mechanical noise (most likely from the safety bumpers) when it opens and closes. It runs just like Elenessa.

Like Elenessa, the easiest way to tell a Mitsubishi Elenessa is to see if the top floor landing station has a keyhole or not. This keyhole is for unlocking the inspection control board that is stored behind the panel, so if the keyhole is there, then it's definitely NEXIEZ-MRL. However, as the NEXIEZ-MRL shares some similarities with Elenessa, it is difficult to tell the differences between the two models.

Despite this, it can be easily tell by its capacity range for elevators produced after November 2013. NEXIEZ-MRL cannot have a capacity more than 1600 kilograms, so if a Mitsubishi MRL elevator has a capacity between 1800 and 2500 kilograms, then it's definitely Elenessa.
