This article is about a high rise high speed model of Mitsubishi elevators produced in the early 1990s.

Overview

A set of 1990s Mitsubishi high speed elevators in Ariobimo Sentral, Jakarta.

This medium to high speed Mitsubishi elevator model mainly designed for high rise buildings such as offices, hotels and apartments. It is a custom ordered model, meaning that it could be designed based on client's requests and requirements such as custom car interiors, etc. It is not known when it was launched, but it was discontinued in the mid 1990s and was succeeded by the Mitsubishi GPM.

The model name is estimated to be MPVF and uses Mitsubishi VFMW microprocessor control with OS2100C group control system (it is speculated that there could be another group control system series for this model). It uses gearless motor, coupled with a variable voltage and variable frequency (VVVF) drive which could reduce power source up to 50 percent. Other advanced features, such as self diagnostic functions, were also included in this model.

In Indonesia, this model was mainly installed in high rise office buildings in Jakarta that were built between the early and mid 1990s and was supplied by PT. Jaya Teknik Indonesia, the former distributor of Mitsubishi. It is now becoming rare as many installations have been modernized in the 2010s.

Characteristics

Little is known about this model. It used gearless machine and has a very distinctive loud motor sound. Some elevators used bell chime while some others used the standard Mitsiubishi electronic chimes.

Fixtures

Standard fixtures

The fixtures used in these elevators are the same as the ones used in the Mitsubishi SPVF elevators, except that the car station is mounted on the front return panel and the interior floor indicator is located above the door. For more detail, refer to Mitsubishi SPVF#Fixtures.

By default the car floor indicator supports two digits, but there are some cases where it could support three digits.

Wheelchair height button panel uses the same buttons and has an analog floor indicator consists of multiple illuminating lights.

Optional fixtures

In these fixtures, the car station has an angled floor indicator display similar to an Otis Series 1 panel found in Otis Elevonic 401 elevators. This indicator has two or three sets of digital segments and a small green vacuum flourescent display (VFD) that could show date and time as well as custom messages. Floor buttons are usually arranged in three rows.

This panel is extremely rare in Indonesia, and the only known examples so far are in the BPPT Tower 2 (Jakarta) and Bumi Surabaya Hotel (Surabaya).

American style fixtures

These fixtures are similar to the 1990s Mitsubishi elevators installed in the United States. The buttons are square with a white square in the middle which lights up orange, and have ADA-compliant braille plate beside them.

These fixtures are extremely rare in Indonesia, and so far the only known example of these fixtures can be found in Palma One, Jakarta.

Hall lanterns

Hall lanterns are the same as the Mitsubishi SPVF elevators, with triangle shaped lanterns that light up white. Some elevators have round lanterns, or a combination of hall lanterns and floor indicator (usually found on the main floor). Analog floor indicators are very rare.
