Overview
Gen3 is a passenger elevator model currently produced by American elevator manufacturer Otis. Launched in 2021, it is Otis's new generation traction elevator model with Otis ONE IoT (Internet of Things) digital service platform (in line with the current "digital elevator" trend), remote elevator calling, Ambiance car design, and other advanced features. It is based on Otis Gen2 and is available with or without machine room.
In Indonesia, Gen3 was officially launched on 22 August 2024[1]. The launching took place at Otis Indonesia's "Platform for Possibilities" event held at Raffles Hotel Jakarta[2].
It is believed that Gen3 sold in Indonesia will be manufactured at Otis's Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) factory in Tianjin, China, similar to the one sold in other parts of Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand.
Gen3 elevators feature the Otis Ambiance car interior design, which is similar to the one used in the latest European Gen2 as well as Gen3 elevators in Europe. Two packages with different materials are available; Natural which incorporates wood, stone and leather material, and Modern which incorporates metallic and glossy textures.
It can also be installed with Otis Compass 360 destination dispatch system as an option.
Variants
There are three main variants of Otis Gen3; the Gen3 Core, Gen3 Edge, and Gen3 Peak. In February 2026, Otis released a home elevator variant called Gen3 Villa Homelift[3].
Gen3 Core
This is a "lightweight" variant of Gen3 for low to mid rise buildings. The speed is limited to just 1 meters per second and the maximum floor is 20 (without machine room) and 16 (with machine room). It has a capacity range between 630 and 1000 kilograms.
Gen3 Edge
This is a mid range variant of Gen3. Unlike Gen3 Core, the maximum speed is 1.75 meters per second and it can serve up to 37 floors (36 if installed with a machine room). The capacity range is the same as Gen3 Core.
Gen3 Peak
This is a high end, high capacity variant of Gen3 with a capacity range between 1150 and 2000 kilograms capacity, and 2.5 meters per second speed.
Gen3 Villa Homelift
This is a home elevator variant of Gen3 designed for private homes and small low rise buildings. It has a capacity range is between 250 and 400 kilograms (or 3 and 5 persons), maximum speed of 0.40 meters per second, and can serve up to 6 floors. Gen3 Villa Homelift was launched to the Indonesian market on 9 February 2026[3].
