Overview

Mitsubishi hydraulic elevators produced in the 1990s had no specific model names. They were available as passenger, service and freight type, and it seems to be using holed hydraulic mechanism where the piston goes underneath the pit. It was produced throughout the 1990s and was discontinued around the late 1990s. The design used in these elevators is almost the same as the "late" SP Type model from the early 1980s.

In Indonesia, these elevators were mainly installed in office buildings (where they served the underground parking floors) and rarely hotels.

Characteristics

  • These elevators often have loud motor noise.
  • Since these elevators use the design from the late SP Type elevator model from the early 1980s, some elevator enthusiasts often think that these elevators are from the 1980s.
  • The passenger elevator type have a bell chime but it would usually only ring when the elevator travels upward.
  • Usually the passenger elevator type would automatically return to the lowest floor if there are no more calls to serve.
  • On freight elevators, the car door is the same height as the ceiling. In addition, they don't have floor indicator inside so the floor buttons double as floor indicator.
  • Not all elevators have their rated capacity shown inside so it is difficult to tell the capacity.

Known specifications

  • Type: Holed (?) hydraulic, with a separate machine room
  • Use: Passenger, service, freight
  • Drive: AC hydraulic
  • Control system: ?
  • Capacity: Not known, but it is suggested that the passenger type is 450-1000 kg
  • Max. landings: 6 (?)
  • Max. travel height: ?
  • Speed: ?
  • Max elevator car: 2 (?)
  • Doors:
    • Single speed center opening (for passenger type)
    • 2 speed telescopic sliding (for service and freight type)
  • Fixtures: No series name (see next section below for more details)

Fixtures

The fixtures are almost the same as the ones used in the standard 1980s Mitsubishi passenger elevators. There were two types of round button; one is the standard white that lights up entirely and the second is black with an orange illuminating letter and halo.

All floor indicators are analog display, located on the call station on the outside and above the door on the inside. Some elevators, especially freight ones, do not have an interior floor indicator so the floor buttons double as an indicator.

Known installations in Indonesia

  • Sinarmas Land Plaza II, Jakarta (1997, serving the basement floors and one serving the upper most floors)
  • Indonesia Stock Exchange Building 1, Jakarta (1995-2018, replaced into Mitsubishi NEXIEZ-MRL)
  • Sasana Budaya Ganesha, Bandung (freight elevator)
  • Surabaya Suites Hotel, Surabaya (1993, derelict)
  • InterContinental Bali Resort, Bali (1993, ballroom)
  • Hang Nadim Airport, Batam (1996)

Trivia

  • The emergency stop switch can also be used to hold the door open when the elevator opens up to facilitate loading/unloading.
